Bilingual in Chile: An Impossible Dream?

Bilingual in Chile: An Impossible Dream? - Thomas Jerome Baker Bilingual in Chile: An Impossible Dream? is a very well researched and enlightening read. Prof. Baker outlines the current situation in his adopted country and then explains to the reader the issues and challenges that Chile is faced with to become bilingual. He explores what works and what doesn't work in other countries and industries and debunks current myths about bilingualism.

His writing style, while thoroughly professional, is gentle as he takes the reader on an insightful journey. I read this book while I was visiting in Miami where Spanish and English go hand-in-hand and, as I was experiencing bilingualism on a daily basis, it took on a significance that was impressive.

Anyone interested in this subject would be well advised to read Prof. Baker's book. Highly Recommended.
